2 Florida men indicted in identify theft

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Two Florida men are facing federal charges in Missouri of trying to collect more than $2 million in fraudulent federal income tax returns using hundreds of stolen identities.

An indictment unsealed Wednesday accuses 24-year-old Terrell Langston of Tallahassee and 24-year-old Montrail Austin of Miami of filing phony tax returns for 2011 and 2012. The indictment alleges they steered some of the proceeds to associates in St. Louis.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says Austin was arrested Wednesday in south Florida.

A grand jury indicted Langston and Austin on April 30 on one felony count each of theft of government funds, aggravated identity theft and conspiracy.
