Meet Roger Schmidt

Tell us a little about yourself and your family.  Where is your hometown?

A VERY long time ago I was born in Moline, Illinois (the Quad Cities), but basically was raised in Wisconsin. I grew up in the Waukesha/Brookfield area just outside of Milwaukee.  I have also lived are Tulsa, Oklahoma; Little Rock, Arkansas; and now reside New Smyrna Beach, Florida.  I have two daughters, and two grandchildren, that reside here as well.  I have one sister and two brothers.  My mother and sister live in Tulsa, and my brothers are in Wisconsin and Montana.

Tell us three things that most people do not know about you.

  1. I want to take up skydiving.
  2. I’ve always wanted to be a pilot, and hope to take lessons some day.  If that doesn’t go well, the skydiving will come in handy!
  3. I’m a big Cheesehead – Brats. Cheese. Sausage. Beer. More cheese. Go Packers!

What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work? What do you like to do on your days off?

I enjoy good wine with friends and I’m a bit of a foodie.  I like to try new and unique places with interesting menus and chefs.  Also, a good cigar with a nice glass of scotch while relaxing outside on the patio is always nice! I also enjoy going to the festivals and other events in the various historic downtowns that Central Florida has to offer.

What is your role at Legal Shred?

I do a little bit of everything. I do Customer Service, Sales, and I am also a Shred Technician. I cover the Central Florida region for the company. I’m based on the East Coast and cover the Orlando Area and surrounding counties from Jacksonville down to Melbourne.

Before working at Legal Shred, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I was a Sales Representative for a large gift company, covering most of the state of Arkansas, selling a line of stuffed animals and other plush items. I also had a brief stint as a Manager for a band.

What do you like the most about Legal Shred?

It’s all about the people! The people I work with, the people I work for, and the people I meet every day.  We have an excellent staff of wonderful people who care about doing the best we can for our customers and clients, and they support me everyday to make things work well.  The owners, Jason and Sean, are great at supporting me with whatever I need. As a private company with forward-thinking owners, it gives me the opportunity to be part of the decision making process, adjust quickly to issues and they always make available the tools I need to do the best job I can! I also enjoy the fact that we are one of the more technology-driven companies in our industry.
