Dumpster divers are messy — at best

As an apartment manager, I cannot begin to tell you how happy the proposed law against Dumpster diving makes me and several other managers. I have managed the same property for more than 15 years and have encountered many people picking through our garbage. Never have I seen one pull out food. When people rummage through the Dumpsters, they break the bags open, which in the summer causes a problem with flies and odor.

I encourage my tenants to shred all personal paper as we all worry about identity theft. Also, when you discard personal items in the Dumpster, it is embarrassing to see someone pull that garbage out. Many thanks to the City Council for supporting this law.
