7/20/2007 – PEOPLE across the county are being warned to shred confidential documents to foil identity fraudsters.
Police are urging people to carefully dispose of items containing vital pieces of information and not just throw them in the bin.
The warning comes after thieves have been seen stealing from wheelie bins in Coventry in the hunt for confidential information.
City police fear they want to commit fraud and identity theft and are urging householders to shred all of their sensitive documents.
And Warwickshire Police say they have no evidence of this happening in the county.
A Warwickshire Police spokeswoman said: “What I would say is we would ask the public to be wary of the dangers of identity theft and that they destroy any information and not put it into their rubbish bins.”
