Junk mail finds its way into the garden

GLORIA VIORGE
6/15/2005 – Identity theft is very scary. How dare those thieves steal our personal information and use it for personal gain? I worry about it like everyone else; I, too, have submitted personal info via credit card and in buying a home. Though our home is paid and our bills as well, our info is still out there via files and/or computer. Shredding is probably the No.1 way to get rid of personal info, but I have found that even with shredding, there are still numbers and names visible. So I dispose of my info organically.
For those of you who don’t want to invest in a shredder, this will work for you. Gather up your junk mail or other info you want to get rid of and tear it up in pieces. Fill a bucket with hot water and immerse the torn paper and soak overnight. In the morning, work your hands through the mucky blob of substance shredding more with your fingers, gather up in a ball and scatter in your garden. Toss some dirt over it and that’s it!
