Leader of Identity Theft Ring Gets 10 Years in Prison

Jennifer Robinson, 36, of West Palm Beach, Fla., was recently sentenced to 121 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, for her involvement in an extensive identity theft scheme.

Robinson had previously pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, 12 counts of wire fraud, 11 counts of stealing government monies, 12 counts of aggravated identity theft, and one count of unauthorized access device fraud.

The scheme involved the theft of patients’ identities from a medical facility in central Florida. The stolen data was then used to file fraudulent federal tax returns seeking refunds.

Three co-conspirators, Elton Baker, 29, Eltonya Wiley, 40, and Kawana Brown, 35, have all pled guilty and are scheduled to be sentenced on June 13, 2014. Two other co-defendants, Antoinette Simmons, 40, and Josh Brown, 25, have been sentenced to probation.

Robinson’s restitution hearing is scheduled for July 25, 2014.
