South Florida is the top U.S. metro area for identity theft and one way to avoid becoming a victim is to chose your PIN number wisely for financial accounts.
Many depositors choose PIN numbers that are easy to remember — but also easy for identity thieves to guess, according to the financial website GoBankingRates.com.
To protect yourself, avoid the most common PIN number —1234, the website recommends. Other
popular PIN numbers use birth dates. Consecutive numbers, such as “1111”, and repeated number pairs — “2020” — also are popular, the website said.
