Virginia deputies arrest Meadowview man for identity theft

WASHINGTON COUNTY, VA (WJHL) –
Washington County, Va. Sheriff’s Office arrested a Meadowview, Va. man on numerous felony charges Wednesday involving identity theft.

According to a WCVASO news release, the victim contacted the sheriff’s office about someone closing his life insurance policy and cashing it out.

Following an investigation, detectives determined that Thomas Edgar Wilson, 67, 31244 Ramblewood Drive, who was an insurance agent, had allegedly changed the address on the victim’s policy and submitted a cash surrender form by forging the victim’s name to the form and changing the victim’s address to his own.

According to the release, the payout on the policy was then sent to Wilson, who then deposited the check into his checking account for his own personal gain.

Wilson was charged with felony identity theft, forgery, uttering and obtaining money by false presence

He was arrested and taken before a Magistrate and was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.

Wilson’s court date is pending in Washington County General District Court.
